The prompt
We asked our own agent, Claude Code connected to Manifold, on 27 October 2026:
I'm launching an electrolyte powder. Show me what ranks on Amazon and on Google Shopping for
"electrolyte powder": prices, ratings, sales, who pays for ads, and who sells the same product
cheapest.The calls
| Step | Tool | Input | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | amazon_search_products | "electrolyte powder", top 30 | 2 |
| 2 | shopping_search_products | "electrolyte powder", top 20 | 1 |
| 3 | shopping_get_sellers | Dr. Berg Electrolyte Powder, from step 2 | 2 |
Amazon's results page in order, organic and sponsored, with each product's price, rating, reviews and how many were bought in the past month. Google Shopping's results with the store, price and any old price. Then the stores Google lists for one product, with shipping and the total.
What came back
Amazon has 6,144 results for the search. Of the top 30, 4 are sponsored:
| Rank | Product | Price | Rating | Ratings | Bought past month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Nutricost Electrolyte Complex, 120 servings (Amazon's Choice) | $27.95 | 4.6 | 2,100 | 10,000 |
| 3 | Ultima Replenisher, 90-serving canister (Best Seller) | $47.99 | 4.7 | 9,500 | 20,000 |
| 4 | Nectar Hydration packets, 30 (sponsored) | $25.40 | 4.3 | 13,400 | 30,000 |
| 14 | Ultima Replenisher packets, 20 | $20.99 | 4.6 | 21,300 | 60,000 |
| 23 | Liquid I.V., 16 count | $24.00 | 4.6 | 108,300 | 30,000 |
| 24 | Trevi packets, 20 | $9.99 | 4.6 | 3,900 | 30,000 |
Google Shopping's top 20 came from Target (4), Walmart (4), brands' own stores (9) and three other retailers. Its top three were Liquid I.V. from its own store at $24.99, Ultima Replenisher at Target for $9.49 and LMNT at Walmart for $8.97.
Google lists 8 stores for Dr. Berg's powder:
| Store | Price | Shipping | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dr. Berg's own store | $35.99 | $4.00 | $39.99 |
| Walmart, sold by Dr. Berg | $36.99 | $5.45 | $42.44 |
| PureFormulas | $36.99 | not shown | $36.99 |
| Four eBay listings | $57.16 to $88.99 | not shown | $57.16 to $88.99 |
What the agent concluded
- The most-bought product is a packet box, not a tub. Ultima's 20-packet box shows 60,000 bought in the past month at rank 14, three times the canister at rank 3 that carries Amazon's Best Seller badge. Single-serve packets are where the volume is.
- Three brands pay for ads on products that already rank. Nectar, Dr. Berg and Salty Revolution each appear twice in the top 30, once sponsored and once organic. On this search, ads defend a position as much as they win one.
- Google Shopping is a different shelf. LMNT, third on Google Shopping, is nowhere in Amazon's top 30, and Target and Walmart win 8 of the 20 rows. A launch that lives only on Amazon misses that shelf.
- "Best price" is not the lowest total. Google marks Dr. Berg's own store as the best price at $35.99, but with shipping it costs $39.99, against $36.99 at PureFormulas. The eBay listings at up to $88.99 are resellers worth watching.
