Find the keywords a competitor ranks for and you don't

The prompt
We asked our own agent, Claude Code connected to Manifold, on 27 October 2026:
DataWise sells an SEO MCP server and ranks on page one for "seo mcp server". How much search
traffic does datawiseseo.com get, and which keywords does it rank for that manifoldmcp.com
does not? Tell me which gaps are worth a page. The calls
| Step | Tool | Input | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | seo_get_domain_overview | datawiseseo.com | 15 |
| 2 | seo_get_keyword_gap | manifoldmcp.com against datawiseseo.com, 50 rows | 7 |
The overview sizes the competitor: estimated traffic, ranked keywords, positions and its top pages. The gap returns every keyword the competitor ranks for in the top 100 where the target does not rank at all, with volume, difficulty and the competitor's ranking page.
What came back
datawiseseo.com ranks for 39 keywords, 3 of them in the top 10, for an estimated 133 visits a month. Its home page brings 118 of them; its backlinks feature page ranks for the most keywords, 17.
The gap returned all 39. A selection, by volume:
| Keyword | Their rank | Their page | Volume | KD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| datawise | 2 | / | 720 | 27 |
| datayze | 20 | / | 390 | 12 |
| backlink gap analysis | 91 | /features/backlinks/ | 170 | 10 |
| seo backlink analysis | 17 | /features/backlinks/ | 140 | 79 |
| seo assistant | 17 | /features/seo-assistant/ | 110 | 4 |
| check referring domains | 16 | /features/backlinks/ | 90 | 51 |
| backlink anchor text analyzer | 15 | /features/backlinks/ | 70 | 26 |
| keyword gap tool | 37 | a blog post | 40 | 0 |
| query fan out seo | 20 | /features/fan-out-queries/ | 40 | 12 |
What the agent concluded
- Seven of the 39 are not gaps. "datawise", "datayze", "the ranking geeks" and four more are the competitor's brand, names that look like it, or the names of other communities. No page of ours should chase them.
- One feature page does the work. 17 of the 39 keywords rank on DataWise's backlinks page and 9 on its keyword research page: one page per job, each answering a cluster of searches.
- The gaps worth a page are the low-difficulty ones. "seo assistant" at difficulty 4, "backlink gap analysis" at 10, "query fan out seo" at 12 and "keyword gap tool" at 0 are within reach of a new site. "seo backlink analysis" at 79 is not.
- The competitor is small too. 133 visits a month is a domain we can overtake with a handful of pages, not a market leader to work around.
