# Find the subreddits where your topic comes up

> Type a topic, a product or a problem. We search Reddit and rank the communities where it is discussed, with an example thread from each.

This is a free tool on the web page at https://www.manifoldmcp.com/free-tools/subreddit-finder: 15 runs a day per visitor, no signup, run by a person in a browser. An agent can do the same job, and more, by connecting Manifold's MCP server at `https://mcp.manifoldmcp.com/mcp` (250 free credits a month). See [Reddit MCP server](https://www.manifoldmcp.com/mcp/reddit.md).

## How it works

1. Type what you want to find, like "bookkeeping for freelancers".
2. We search Reddit's posts and count which communities they come from.
3. Open the subreddits, and a thread from each, ranked by how often the topic comes up.

## Then read what they are saying

Finding the communities is step one. With Manifold connected, your agent searches their posts and comments, sizes each subreddit, watches for new threads, and summarises what people ask, praise and complain about, with no Reddit API app to apply for.

| | Here | In your agent with Manifold |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Communities | Found by topic | Plus weekly visitors and their rules |
| Threads | One example each | Every new post, searched and summarised |
| Comments | Not shown | Searched across Reddit for your brand and rivals |
| Price | Free | 1 credit a search |

### Things to ask your agent

- Find the subreddits where people ask for [product category] recommendations, and the five threads with the most comments this month.
- What do people on Reddit complain about most with [competitor]? Quote the threads.
- Show me every new post in r/[one] and r/[two] that mentions [topic] since yesterday.

## Questions

### How does the subreddit finder work?

It searches Reddit's posts for your topic and counts which subreddits the matching posts come from, so the communities where the topic comes up most are first. Each comes with its highest scoring post in the sample.

### Do I need a Reddit account or API key?

No. The search runs on Manifold's side, so there is nothing to sign in to and no Reddit API app to apply for.

### Is there a GummySearch alternative?

GummySearch shut down in November 2025. Manifold covers the same jobs from your agent: finding subreddits, searching posts and comments, and reading the new posts in the communities you watch. [How to monitor Reddit for brand mentions](https://www.manifoldmcp.com/blog/how-to-monitor-reddit-for-brand-mentions.md).

### Is the subreddit finder free?

Yes. You get 15 searches a day here, with no signup. For more, connect Manifold to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor: the free plan gives your agent 250 credits every month, with no card.
