# Search Reddit properly

> Type a topic, a product or a brand. We search all of Reddit and list the threads that match, with the subreddit, the score and how many people replied.

This is a free tool on the web page at https://www.manifoldmcp.com/free-tools/reddit-search: 15 runs a day per visitor, no signup, run by a person in a browser. An agent can do the same job, and more, by connecting Manifold's MCP server at `https://mcp.manifoldmcp.com/mcp` (250 free credits a month). See [How to search Reddit with AI](https://www.manifoldmcp.com/blog/how-to-search-reddit-with-ai.md).

## How it works

1. Type what you want to find, like "best crm for a small agency".
2. We search posts across every public subreddit.
3. Open the threads, ranked, and see which communities they come from.

## Then read the replies, and watch for new ones

A search finds the threads. With Manifold connected, your agent reads the comments under them, searches comments across Reddit for your brand and your rivals, and checks the communities you care about for new posts every day.

| | Here | In your agent with Manifold |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Threads | One search | As many searches as you need, by time range |
| Comments | Not shown | Read under each thread and searched across Reddit |
| New posts | Not shown | Every new post in the subreddits you watch |
| Price | Free | 1 credit a search |

### Things to ask your agent

- Search Reddit for people asking for a [product category] recommendation this year, and list what they ask for most.
- Find Reddit threads that mention [competitor] and summarise the complaints, quoting them.
- Which Reddit threads rank on Google for [keyword]? Read the top comments of each.

## Questions

### Why is Reddit's own search so bad?

Reddit's search matches words in titles more than meaning and leans to recent posts. This search runs across posts and ranks by relevance over all time, so the threads people keep linking to come up first.

### Do I need a Reddit account?

No. The search runs on Manifold's side, so there is nothing to sign in to and no Reddit API app to apply for.

### Can I search Reddit comments?

Not on this page, which searches posts. In your agent, Manifold also searches comments across Reddit and reads every comment under a thread. [How to monitor Reddit for brand mentions](https://www.manifoldmcp.com/blog/how-to-monitor-reddit-for-brand-mentions.md).

### Is the Reddit search free?

Yes. You get 15 searches a day here, with no signup. For more, connect Manifold to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor: the free plan gives your agent 250 credits every month, with no card.
