# TikTok research with an AI agent

> TikTok is where short-form trends start and spread. These guides show how to search videos, read creators and comments from your agent, and how to pick an MCP server for the job.

## What is a TikTok MCP server?

A TikTok MCP server connects your AI agent to TikTok data: videos, profiles, comments, transcripts and search results. Some are hosted and need no TikTok developer account. Others run locally with a browser or your own speech-to-text endpoint.

## Questions

### Is there an official TikTok MCP server?

TikTok for Business MCP is TikTok's own server, and it works on your own ad accounts. For public videos, creators and comments there is no official server: the Research API is limited to approved researchers in the US and EU, so public TikTok MCP servers are third party.

### Do I need a TikTok developer account?

No. Hosted servers such as HasData, TokScript, CreatorCrawl and Manifold use their own account or API key. Local servers such as nuelcyoung/tiktok-mcp-server read public pages with a browser, though transcription may need your own speech-to-text endpoint.

### Can an agent get TikTok transcripts?

Yes. TokScript MCP, VeedCrawl MCP, CreatorCrawl, Manifold and nuelcyoung/tiktok-mcp-server all return video transcripts. Some need your own speech-to-text API, others include transcription in their pricing.
