# Instagram research with an AI agent

> Instagram is where brands and creators show what works. These guides show how to read accounts, posts, reels and comments from your agent, and how to pick an MCP server for the job.

## What is an Instagram MCP server?

An Instagram MCP server connects your AI agent to Instagram. Some read public profiles, posts, reels and comments for research. Others publish and schedule posts on your own Business or Creator account through Meta's official API.

## Questions

### Is there an official Instagram MCP?

Not for Instagram content. Meta's official ads MCP manages your own Meta ad accounts, so servers that read or publish Instagram posts are third party.

### Do I need an Instagram login?

Not with Manifold, which is hosted with no API keys of your own. Servers built on Meta's API need a Meta app and a Business or Creator account, and unofficial servers use your username and password.

### Can an agent post to Instagram for me?

Publishing tools such as Blotato and Outstand post to your own Business or Creator account through Meta's API. Manifold searches and reads public Instagram data, which your agent can use to draft captions for you.
